Reading is a shield that protects the minds of youths, and frees man from the limitations of ignorance and abidance in subversive ideas. The light of knowledge increases as a result of the increase of reading proceeds and the development of reading level. Reading has different levels. Firstly, it comes from the desire to search for knowledge and science, then it turns into an avocation to taste reading, and then it develops into an analytical reading, then into a critical reading, and then to a creative reading, during all levels, reader can form his own view of what he reads.
By reading comes the self-refinement. It gives us the confidence and the ability to dialogue and debate. It makes the reader distance himself from paltriness and trivialities. Rather, it makes reader examine the depths and values of matters. It also provides the reader with a strong patience. In general, child and man may lose the ability to read as a result of the acceleration of civilization development and the need to deal with computerized and visual devices and programs.
By reading we look forward to the future and revive the science fiction and the seeds of innovation. Reading also adds age to our lives. By reading, we travel to places we have never visited; we live the details of times we have never witnessed; we connect the past with the present, and we benefit from the narration and the lessons of time by neglecting the negatives of the past and adopting the passiveness and creativity of these lessons to improve and develop reality.
He who is forbidden from the grace of reading, he is therefore deprived from a lot of good. In reading, there is fun and tourism, work and construction, and intellectual development, and by which reader can achieve the development of scientific degrees and professional degrees accordingly, and raise his/her social skills. Reading the human experiences increases the reader's wisdom and social intelligence, as well as the spiritual and personal side. Reading saturates this side and nourishes both soul and mind.
Therefore, it is better to establish reading councils, or the so-called reading salons in each school or institution or even in every home, to discuss and analyze what is being read, take a look at the sides of creativity within it, and make the best use of its content.
We need to acquire the skill of cutting part of time out of our daily preoccupations to be occupied by useful reading. Each of us must set his own goal so he can read a collection of books every year. We must begin gradually and sequentially in terms of quantity and type. We will automatically find ourselves long for reading without any motivation in all fields.
Some people may think that this is very difficult; others may think it is very easy, and the fact is that it is neither difficult nor easy, but it is easy for those who continue and persist, i.e the key to successful reading is the continuity and persistence in reading. It is the best strategy to achieve such equation.
