FAHR Celebrates the World Diabetes Day by Screening and Awareness Raising

Sunday November 15, 2015

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) marked the World Diabetes Day, coinciding with the 14th of November, by organizing awareness raising lectures, activities and medical screening for its employees in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in collaboration with Gentle medical Care Center and the New Medical Center in Abu Dhabi.

In this context, Mr. Mahmoud Al Marzougi, Director of Government Communication Department in FAHR explained that the Authority has organized a diverse range of events and health activities for employees, including: awareness raising lectures, sugar screening tests, provision of health guidance, distribution of educational pamphlets amongst employees and provision of sports and health advices. He pointed out that the events witnessed a large turnout of employees who took  advantage of the various free medical examinations.

He pointed out that celebrating this occasion issues from the authority’s keenness to help raise the level of health awareness among employees and encourage them to carry out periodic medical examinations, follow medical advices and to instill awareness of preventive procedures against various diseases prevalent in the UAE, like diabetes and obesity.

Mahmoud Marzougi said that this community initiative comes within the context of the program for employees’ welfare, which is implemented by FAHR as part of its 12:12:12 series of community initiatives launched by FAHR in early 2015. The idea behind these initiatives is to launch 12 community initiatives by the 12 organizational units of the authority within a period of 12 months.

He pointed out that the 12:12:12 series of community initiatives aims at expanding the domain of the authority’s involvement in community work and the engagement of all departments and the largest number of employees in community service activities to enhance its role in this important area, and to achieve the greatest possible impact and benefit from FAHR’s community initiatives, at both internal and external levels, to the benefit of the various segments of the community.
