360 federal employees nominated for Project Management Program (PMP) in the Federal Government

HE Ohoud Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Wellbeing, stressed the keenness of the UAE Government to prepare and empower national cadres to enable them to keep abreast of latest international trends in the field of project management.

HE was addressing the closing session of the training course on project management targeting the first batch of the Federal Government employees. Out of 360 employees nominated to attend the training program, 100 were selected for the first phase, while the rest of the candidates were scheduled for training in groups to be organized in the coming period.

The PMP aims at building the capacity of the Federal Government employees in the field of project management and helping them obtain the project management specialist certification. It is also intended to create a positive governmental working environment, equipped with qualified human resources capable of keeping abreast of the most recent developments in government work systems and necessary in shaping a better future.

"Project management training program is part of the Government's efforts to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to intensify efforts in the upcoming period to achieve 100% of the National Agenda for UAE Vision 2021. On the other hand, the efforts of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources in the implementation of the training program to achieve the desired goals, are highly appreciated by all stakeholders.”

Great reaction

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, said that the PMP, launched by the Government of the UAE in early 2017, was received with enthusiasm from various government agencies.

HE pointed out that upon the launch of the important professional program on project management, the federal entities nominated 360 employees to join pursue training. They passed a series of tests and assessments, and 100 of them were selected to join the program in its first phase, to be trained in project management through workshops and e-learning sessions.

Project Management Certification

Lulwa Al Marzouqi, Director of Human Resources Planning, said that the PMP, which is being run by the Authority in cooperation with a number of training partners in the Federal Government under the umbrella of "Ma’arif" initiative, aims to upgrade the efficiency and competence of employees of the federal bodies in the field of specialist project management as well as enable them to achieve government initiatives and projects and increase productivity in the workplace.

She explained that the program reflects the Authority's keenness on empowering the Federal Government employees, developing their abilities and creating an attractive governmental environment that encourages talent attraction and retention. She considered the PMP one of the most important specialized programs in the world, where trainees get global recognition after 35 training hours and passing the final exam.

Fruit of Cooperation

The project is the result of constructive cooperation between the Prime Minister’s Office in the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future; the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and the World Institute of Project Management in USA, which is the developer and owner of the Project Management Professional (PMP). The project contributes to providing the government with a group of qualified personnel in managing critical and strategic projects.
