Women occupy 46% of the leadership and supervisory positions in the Federal Government

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) revealed that the total number of employees working in the ministries and federal entities was 97, 891 by the end of the second quarter 2016, and that women make up 51% of the total civilian workers in the federal government, under basic jobs category, i.e. excluding service and assistance jobs, according to the Human Resource Statistical Bulletin in the federal government for Q2, 2016, which is considered one of the most important outputs of HR Management Information System in the federal government "BAYANATI."

According to the Bulletin issued by FAHR on a regular basis, females working in the federal government occupy 46% of leadership and supervisory positions available at the ministries and federal bodies, or 1725 positions compared to 2045 for their male counterparts.

Statistics show that 43%, i.e. a total of 15,781 female employees in the federal government were in the age group of 30 to 39 years, and 11,126 in the age group of 40 to 49 years, while 463 were above 60 years of age.

127 employees have been working in the Federal Government for more than 35 years

Regarding employee tenure, the Bulletin reveals that nearly 10,000 federal female employees have period of service between 1 to 4 years, compared to 9,000 between 5 to 9 years, and 127 with more than 35 years.

Female Employees receive 58% of promotions

The Statistical Bulletin also reveal that women’s share in total promotions was 58% (i.e. 119 out of 204 promotion opportunities), and that 554 female employees were appointed in the ministries and federal entities during the same period, compared to 609 male employees.
