Dubai Police discusses prospects of cooperation with FAHR within the "Ma’aref” Initiative

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) recently received a delegation from Dubai Police at its headquarters in Dubai. The visiting delegation was seeking to discuss prospects of cooperate with FAHR, and get acquainted with its roles and responsibilities at the level of the federal government.


The delegation was briefed on the most important projects and initiatives of FAHR, especially Ma’aref" Initiative for the federal government’s preferred training partners, launched by FAHR in 2013, which is regarded as one of the strategic initiatives, and the first of its kind at the federal government level. The initiative aims to compile a list of the best training providers UAE-wide and make it available to ministries and federal bodies to take advantage of the training programs offered by these partners at competitive prices.

HE Mariam Al Abbar, Executive Director of Programs and HR Planning pointed out during the meeting that the idea of ​​"Ma’arif" is based on selecting the best training providers in the UAE, according to specific criteria, and making available a list of these training providers to the ministries and federal authorities, identifying the training needs of ministries according to their annual plans, and negotiating with training providers to provide these programs and courses at reduced prices, or free of charge, in addition to signing memoranda of understanding with universities and colleges to provide academic programs at special rates for the federal government employees, as well as specialized training as required.

She said, "Ma’arif Initiative aims to create a partnership based upon social responsibility and mutual interest between public and private sectors. It has been launched to ensure the provision of quality training for approximately 85,000 employees working for 56 federal ministries and entities, meet training needs in a manner that satisfies the requirements of the Training & Development System for the federal government employees, and reduce funding of training services at the federal entities, thus benefiting the maximum possible number of employees, as well as contributing to the enhancement of efficiency and productivity and creating an attractive work environment in the federal government.

“FAHR has held more than 450 training courses as part of Ma’arif Initiative since its launch in October last year until the end of June this year, with over  5,000 federal government employees attending these courses”.
She stated that Ma’aref" Initiative for the federal government’s preferred training partners, has so far attracted (70) accredited training institutions to work alongside the federal government, according to specific criteria, pointing out that the initiative has also succeeded in saving nearly 3 million dirhams from the budgets of ministries and federal entities, allocated for employee training and develop.

Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Merdas director of Educational Curricula in Dubai Police briefly highlighted the role of the General Administration of Training at Dubai Police, and the services it provides to the government and private sectors in the UAE, in addition to training courses and programs in place.  
The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the area of training and development of federal government employees. Dubai Police will provide free training courses and other courses at competitive prices to the staff of ministries and federal entities, as well as training rooms for the federal entities. In addition, the federal government entities will be offered the opportunity to cooperate with the Unified Ambulance Center of Dubai Police, in order to implement awareness training programs for the federal government employees
