In his book entitled “Reading”, “Fanson Goff”, the French critic, examines the relationship between the text and the reader, where the author, the historical context or the work itself is no longer the critic's reference in studying the text but rather the influence arisen between the reader and the text itself.
Thus, reading has all privileges and the reader has the best position as per the opinion of Argentine writer "Borges". In this regard, Borges says "Others will be proud of the pages they wrote, but I am proud of the ones that I have read," and he confirms that "the only literary history to be recognized is the history of reading. Reading is the historical works, not the literary ones, so that the latter always remain the same. Reading changes over time and the value of the works are derived from readings”. Therefore, reader is happier than the writer, and the text becomes a good one when read by a new reader. The act of Reading is multi-activity, where we do not look for the sole meaning, but the road to access multiple meanings is the process of re-reading, as said by author "Roland Pat".
What happens when we read a book?
What are the feelings and emotions caused by reading inside us? The relationship with the text initially allows this special experience, which the author “yawas” calls "Aesthetic Pleasure," "in the state of aesthetic pleasure, the self is released by everything sensual that makes our daily life as a coercive reality." The sensual consciousness, as described by French philosopher and novelist "Sartre", opens our eyes to a double sense of freedom and creativity.
Reading as an aesthetic experience is always "liberating something." It releases the reader from the difficulties and constraints of real life, on the one hand, It makes reader enters into the world of text. It abstracts his perception of the world. The reader who is emotionally moved by the heroes of a novel forgets for a moment (i.e the moment of reading) his concerns and existential anxiety. At the same time, the benefit gained from the fate of the characters facing him in unprecedented situations will change his vision of things.
One word can revive the past. Through reading, the text refers each one of us to his beautiful memories. Through identification of characters, the reader becomes able to understand the reality of his own life. Reading therefore enables him to understand himself in a better way.
