The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) recently held the 9th Human Resources Club Forum for 2019, entitled “New World...New Skills”, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Human Resources Authority. The event hosted Mr. Abu Amin, Head of Strategy and Transformation Team at PwC Middle East, and member of a number of the company's digital marketing team.
The forum, which was held in Abu Dhabi, was attended by HE Dr. Abdulrahman Abdul Mannan Al Awar, Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, HE Hassan Al Hosani, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Human Resources Authority, HE Ibrahim Fikry, Executive Director of Support Services Sector at FAHR, more than 500 of the club associates, and employees of the Federal Government and Abu Dhabi Government.
At the outset, HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar noted it was the second HR Club Forum hosted by Abu Dhabi, this time in response to the recommendations of the UAE Government’s annual meetings to expand the activities of the HR Club to cover all the emirates of the State, so as to maximize the benefit to HR professionals and those who are concerned with human capital development.
HE hailed the cooperation between the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources and Abu Dhabi Government Human Resources Authority in terms of coordination, and exchange of best experiences and practices regarding government human resources development. He pointed to the HR legislation, policies and systems adopted by Abu Dhabi Government, to empower its human capital and enhance the State’s position regionally and internationally in the field of government work.
56 forums, benefiting 10 thousand club associates
HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar said: “The HR Club is an interactive platform that brings together HR professionals and those interested in human capital development, under one roof to discuss latest developments in the field and review experiences, knowledge, main challenges and innovative solutions related to human capital development.
“The Club, which was launched by the Authority in 2010, is one of its key strategic initiatives. It held so far 9 forums in various emirates of the country during 2019, bringing the total number since its launch to 56 forums, attended by nearly 10 thousand associates, specialists and those interested In human resources, from all sectors of work within the country and abroad, hailing from all work sectors in the country and abroad, whether personally or through live broadcasting techniques.”
Digitization has become the right approach for any organization
On his part, Hassan Al Hosani, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Government HR Authority said: “We seek through this forum, to cooperate with the FAHR for the purpose of reaching common visions and strategies that enable us to cape with global trends in several fields. This is very important, as we daily witness amazing developments in our field of work which necessitates using mechanisms of the modern era.”
He added: “Perhaps, the most prominent of these developments is the use of digital technology to build a new world and new skills, as well as working with partners to develop human skills to keep abreast of the digital world, which has become an urgent need for government bodies, institutions and employees.
"It is our duty as partners to take necessary steps to improve these skills in our societies by using the most advanced technologies in the world and keep abreast of the ongoing changes in the digital world.”
Mr. Abu Amin, Head of Strategy and Transformation Team at BwC Middle East, and keynote speaker, reviewed the results of a study conducted recently by one of the international organizations about the impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and modern technology on institutions and companies, and the nature of the jobs required in the current and future labor markets.
He pointed out that 55% of employees surveyed were more concerned about their future career, and feared that they would lose their jobs due to automation and the growing dependence of institutions on artificial intelligence technologies.
He said that the study showed a large shortage in people with digital skills world wide, and revealed that 79% of the CEOs interviewed in the study expressed their concern about the difficulty of finding skilled employees, especially those with digital expertise and skills. “The increasing demand for this kind of expertise, has led to intense competition between institutions to attract to obtain their services,” he said
Abu Amin argued that an organization’s success and survival among competitors does not only depend on having employees with high digital skills, but also on their ability to train all employees and familiarize them with the basics of modern technologies. He stressed the importance of such knowledge in creating opportunities for proper use of these technologies in order to develop institutional work, and enhance employees’ skills and , provide them with a positive work environment.
Mr. Abu Amin, further stressed that organizations need to attract and retain talent with digital skills, hone the skills of their employees, and adopting their creative ideas, to enhance the institution’s position and ensure its continuity in light of the intense competition.
HR Club is an interactive platform and an intellectual and knowledge communication channel that brings together interested people, human resources specialists and experts under one roof to share ideas, experiences and solutions that could enhance the roles assigned to human resources departments and other institutional service bodies across different sectors in the country.
The Authority is seeking to develop the Club and improve its vision and mission by working hard to expand to expand the base of its beneficiaries beyond human resource professionals, to include support services sectors, and all employees working for these sectors, such as personnel, finance, IT, procurement, etc
The Authority has announced the launch of the new strategy for the Human Resources Club and the restructuring of the Club's advisory board, given the remarkable success of the Club during the past years. The Club held 46 forums which were attended by more than 7,700 human
