FAHR supports ‘Combat Blindness Campaign’

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced its full support for the campaign launched by Noor Dubai Foundation to treat people with eyesight-related diseases including blindness in many countries around the world.

Mahmoud Al Marzouqi, Director of Government Communications said that FAHR is supporting the campaign by promoting its objectives through the media, including its accounts on various social networking sites, and sending SMS messages and e-mails to all Federal Government employees via the HR Management Information System "BAYANATI".

He called on Federal Government employees to donate to the campaign by sending the word "Ni’ama" (grace) in an SMS to 4565 via Etisalat. Each AED 50 contributes to treatment of four people from blindness, he noted, stressing that the campaign comes in conjunction with the announcement of His Highness President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, designating 2017 as Year of Giving.

Al-Marzouqi stated that the Authority launched a series of community initiatives to mark the Year of Giving, in cooperation with partner federal, local and private institutions, pointing out that an integrated plan for community-based initiatives has been prepared throughout the year 2017, with participation of employees of other ministries and federal entities through soliciting their opinions regarding the community initiatives that they wish be implemented by FAHR during the year.

He said that the Authority seeks through its community initiatives to maximize interest within and outside the country, and to consolidate the values ​​of volunteerism and philanthropy, promote the spirit of social responsibility, and instil the values ​​of loyalty and career happiness by volunteering.

Dr. Manal Tariam, Executive Director of Noor Dubai, said that the campaign launched by Noor Dubai in the holy month of Ramadan, as part of its charitable initiatives, aims to treat thousands of people with visual impairment in some developing countries.

“Noor Dubai Foundation has prepared an integrated plan to launch similar camps in many poor countries in Africa and Asia where eye diseases are prevalent”, she said.

Dr. Tariem thanked the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources for its cooperation with Noor Dubai in the implementation of its humanitarian initiatives and publicizing them among the Federal Government employees to give them the opportunity to contribute to charitable work through volunteering or donating.
