The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) held a series of cultural events for its employees during the Month of Reading which is observed annually in March in the UAE. The event’s agenda featured several activities that targeted the Authority’s employees. These activities included holding a series of educational and awareness sessions for the Authority’s employees and conducting field visits to several leading international institutions operating in the UAE to give the employees the opportunity to learn more about human resources best practices adopted by these institutions and their experience in this field.
The Authority also held an online workshop titled "Photo Reading" for its employees in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The workshop was presented by Ms. Nirouz Al-Jarmani in cooperation with Al-Manhal Institute for Culture and Computer.
During the workshop the instructor discussed the concept of photo reading, which was first introduced in the early twentieth century, and explained the techniques behind it, its benefits, how to develop fast reading skills, and the required steps.
Al- Jarmani pointed out that photo reading is a technique developed to keep pace with technological advancements and the demands of today’s fast-paced world. She said this technique helps improve the photographic memory of the reader and can boost the reading speed to 25,000 words per minute, which means one can read a book comprised of 250 pages in one hour.
As part of its agenda for the Month of Reading, a delegation representing the Authority visited HUAWEI’s headquarters in Dubai to learn about the company's latest technologies and technological innovations and top new products.
Furthermore, the Authority’s delegation also visited “AWS” company in Dubai to learn about the company’s best practices, exchange knowledge surrounding the federal government’s and AWS’s experience in this field and discuss mutual cooperation in several relevant fields.
