Monday June 29, 2015

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) recently organized the regular meeting of the Advisory Council of HR Club, one of FAHR’s strategic initiatives established late 2010, to represent a platform that brings together HR specialists and those interested in the area from all government and private sectors at the state level.

Council members discussed many ideas and important issues on how to develop the HR Club, increase its membership base, and diversify speakers and topics tackled in periodic forums, in line with the strategic goals and plans laid down by FAHR.

At the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar praised the Club’s outstanding progress over the past five years, during which it was able to attract hundreds of specialists and those interested in human resource issues, from all government and private sectors across the UAE. He added that the Club’s periodic forums and seminars had hosted dozens of experts and highly experienced people to share their knowledge and expertise with members of the Club, making it one of well-recognized specialized platforms.

HE stressed on the importance of expanding the activities of the Club beyond human resource issues, to discuss topics related to public administration, support services, quality systems, technical solutions, etc, with an emphasis on successful practical experiences.

He emphasized the importance of soliciting the views of Club members about the subjects being discussed, meeting times and venues, ways of enhancing the Club, and the possibility of granting the participants specialized certificates.

On the other hand, the Advisory Council members stressed the need to focus the Club's efforts on government services, with special attention to improvement of quality of services, change management and competitiveness, and linking all activities to the recent move towards smart government, targeting the employees as they constitute the cornerstone of growth and institutional development.

Advisory Council of HR Club comprises the membership: HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources; Aisha Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of HR Policies; Laila Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Programs & HR Planning; Brad Poisson, Chief Executive of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Middle East and Africa; Matthew Mai, Director General of Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD), Arabian Gulf and Middle East; Eisa Al Zaabi, Senior Vice President for Institutional Support, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ibrahim Fikri, Director of Projects & Programs at FAHR.

For his part, Mr. Ibrahim Fikri noted that the HR Club was launched in late 2010, in order to transfer experience and expertise among managers, specialists, experts, researchers and those interested in the development of government and private sectors, and investment in human capital. In addition, the Club is expected to play an important role in the transfer of best practices locally, regionally and internationally, and delivering innovative solutions.

He added that the Club will help in reviewing success stories in application of modern public administration systems, implementation of quality systems, technical solutions, and outsourcing arrangements, and seeks to attract notable public figures to share their successful experiences, and speakers from global consulting firms, or leading universities to talk about the latest developments or hot topics.

Ibrahim Fikri called on institutions and private companies, to fulfill their social responsibility by sponsoring and supporting the Club, in exchange for an ideal opportunity to learn about the best practices, experiences and success stories of many individuals and institutions, as well as meeting with specialists and actors in the field of institutional work.
