Monday August 28, 2017

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) celebrated Emirati Women's Day, which falls on the 28th of August every year. The ceremony was attended by HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Director General of the Authority, a number of sector and department directors and employees.

In this regard, Dr. Abdulrahman said: “The UAE gives women the utmost care and support in recognition of their significant role in consolidating our Union and contributing to the achievements that have placed the UAE in a high global position, thanks our wise leadership”.

He added that the HR legislation applied in the UAE Federal Government grants working women several benefits, taking into account their special conditions, to ensure a balance between work and family responsibilities. Accordingly, he added, working women enjoy several privileges, including participation in conferences and meetings outside the country, pointing out that the HR regulations in the Federal Government prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender in promotion, leadership and remuneration. “The UAE has broken the stereotyped image of Arab women without compromising its customs, traditions and values”, he noted.

The Director General of the Authority revealed that women working in the federal government occupy 46% of leadership and supervisory positions, about 72% of health jobs, 69% in education sector, 46% of administrative jobs, constitute 30% of diplomatic corps and 34% of professional staff.

HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar paid tribute to FAHR female employees, praising their tremendous efforts and outstanding role in reflecting the positive image of the organization in general and the Federal Government in particular.
