The delegation was received by HE Aisha Al Suwaidi, CEO of the HR Policies Sector, Moza Al Serkal, HR expert at FAHR and a number of employees of the Strategy and Future Department. The knowledge transfer session to the Abu Dhabi City Municipality shed light on the Guide of Knowledge Management in the Federal Government, launched by FAHR several years ago to raise awareness of the importance of managing knowledge assets in the federal ministries and entities, and helping entities to get acquainted with the concept of knowledge management and its applications. This Guide further highlights the benefits of knowledge management, and its vital role in enhancing productivity, creativity and innovation in institutions.

The Guide addresses the types of knowledge and its development stages, as well as its internal and external sources and stresses the benefits gained by the entities that adopt the concept of knowledge management, and supports them through providing an adequate explanation about the assessment of the maturity level of knowledge. It also presents the components of the knowledge management strategy.

The Guide includes a number of challenges related to knowledge management that may be encountered by entities, and puts forward some tools and methods that would contribute to the production, acquisition, storage, publication, measurements and assessment of knowledge. Knowledge management is the systematic management of knowledge assets at the entity to create added value and meet strategic needs. It includes all initiatives, processes and systems that contribute to knowledge production, acquisition, classification, storage, dissemination, use and re-use. There are three types of knowledge: embedded knowledge, explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge.
