Prime Minister`s Office and FAHR launch PMP in Federal Government

UAE Government declared launch of managers training and accreditation project (PMP) in collaboration with USA Project Management Institute (PMI)in a move that comes as part of efforts aiming at embodying the directives of HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai on capacity building-up and work intensity for achieving 100% of national agenda targets and within the framework of activating Government accelerators launched recently by His Highness.

This was discussed at a meeting attended by Ohood Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness and Director General of Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Abdurrahman Al Awar, Director General of FAHR and Huda Al Hashmi, Assistant Director General for Strategy and Innovation at Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and Future.

 From PMI part, the meeting was attended by Mark Lingley President and CEO of PMI, Cindy Anderson, Vice President of PMI and Grace Najar Director of Corporate Relations for South Europe and Middle East at PMI.

 Cooperation

 A cooperative agreement was signed between UAE Government and PMI for enhancing strategic cooperation in areas of capacity building training and exchange of expertise and best practices in projects management, in a cooperation which is the first of its kind for PMI at government level.

 The project comes as a result of a constructive cooperation between Prime Minster Office, FAHR and PMI the developer and owner of PMP which will contribute in providing Federal Government with a group of qualified employees in projects management together with efficient and effective investment of resources in a manner that will support achieving Government`s future vision, serving national objectives and enhancing the State`s competiveness worldwide.

 Accelerators

HE Ohood Al Roumi said: “The directive of HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid on enhancing achievement and government accelerators recently launched by His Highness enhance government`s efforts to achieve national objectives and promote distinguished government action experience in UAE.

 “The project will contribute in qualifying a generation of national competencies and will achieve for entities for which they work a specific value added that will contribute to optimal execution of their projects and initiatives.”

 She added “The execution of government accelerators initiative requires a prime group of government employees in area of project management to lead teams assigned to complete national agenda targets as a government priority and raise performance efficiency towards taking UAE to the standard of best world countries,”.

 Systems

 “UAE Government is one of the most advanced and bright government for future, depending on an integrated system and competent leadership focused on capacity building of human capital,” Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Director General of FAHR pointed out.

 Dr. Al Awar underlined importance of human element in achieving the directives of the State`s wise leadership with respect to Emirates vision 2012 and its national agenda along with management professionals qualification project in achieving this objective through training a number of Federal Government employees on PMP.

 “FAHR, as part of its effort to enhance the State`s competiveness and global leadership including corporate work system in Federal Government, has undertaken to develop a plan aiming at qualifying employees in Federal Ministries and entities and developing their capacity and competency in a manner that will contribute to increase productivity and promote Government action experience,” Dr. Al Awar maintained.

 Mark Lingley expressed his delight at this partnership with UAE Government in area of project management and capacity building and incorporating principles of projects, programmes and initiatives management in different Government entities towards achieving objectives and perspectives of Emirates Vision 2012 including other national agenda and strategic initiatives that will enable the government to bring about a global move at leadership level in future.

 The Prime Minister’s Office in collaboration with FAHR and PMI launches PMP.

 FAHR will implement employees’ qualification project in PMP as a basic step towards achieving Federal Government objectives to have qualified manpower capable of achieving Government initiatives, projects and distinguished services.

 FAHR issued in this respect the Circular No. 38/2017 to all Federal Ministries and entities and held and extensive meeting introducing project details, and PMP joining instructions in attendance of representatives from Prime Minister Office, FAHR, a number of HR officials in Federal Ministries and entities, training service providers and PMP nominees. 

 Training

 PMP aims at qualifying and training Federal Government employees in area of project management and assisting them with obtaining project management specialist certificate.

 The project, which will be implemented as from the current year, seeks to build the capacity of 500 employees in Federal Government Ministries and Organizations who undertake management of different projects and prioritized initiates on national agenda and Emirates Vision 2021.

 Empowerment

 Employees’ qualification project will empower government project managers to build a networking with a prime group of experts and specialists at PMI and to take part in specialized training programmes, conferences, laboratories and workshops specially designed for government employees.

A project management directory in government action will also be developed as a main reference for UAE government employees in this area and to build a new formula and methodology for government projects management contained in government accelerators system.
