FAHR holds Masterclass I for Jahiz Initiative of Government Talent Future

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) held the first "Masterclass" within "Jahiz" initiative for the future of government talent, launched by the UAE government in late 2022. The government launched such initiative for enhancing the readiness of national cadres and talents in the federal government for the future and empowering them with the new skills required to design the future and benefit from its opportunities. This will be through an integrated digital platform for future skills, which supports the government's readiness for the future.

In this regard, Her Excellency Laila Obaid Al Suwaidi, Deputy General Manager of the Authority - who chaired the session - explained that the first virtual masterclass, entitled "Secure Digital Transformation... Human Element", witnessed remarkable interaction by the leaders of the federal government, with more than 80 participants from the leaders of various ministries and federal entities, and hosted H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity in the UAE Government and Chairman of the Cybersecurity Council.

FAHR will also hold in the coming period, within “Jahiz” Initiative, a masterclass series in different fields and specializations of the leadership categories of the government, she explained. She also noted that “Jahiz” Initiative, which is designed with ‏Government Development and Future Office and FAHR, will contribute to increasing the participations of the cadres of ministries and federal authorities in implementing the visions of the leaders for building a world pioneering government future model to enhance performance, productivity, efficiency and future readiness of the UAE.

Rapid technological developments require awareness of the importance of privacy and data protection

In his turn, Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity of the UAE Government, focused on forms of cyber-attacks and methods of addressing them at the personal and institutional levels, the mechanisms of cybercrime reporting and immunization. The rapid technological developments witness nowadays requires us to increase the corporate and societal awareness of the methods of deal with such technology for protecting the data privacy and confidentiality of the information stored via such technologies, he explained.

He also shed light on the importance of combating rumors, avoiding promoting unreliable news sources, the need of verifying the accuracy of the information and the receiving information from the reliable official sources.

Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti also talked about the most prominent methods used by hackers to hack mobile devices, including (suspicious links, public programs, exploiting ports, external clouds, social engineering, public browsing, downloading unsafe files and using public networks, especially abroad).

His Excellency gave pieces of advice to protect mobile phones from hacking, including (periodic updating of mobile operating systems, continuous updating of used programs and applications and not linking devices to external clouds. He also recommending activating two-step verification to ensure that the authorized user accesses the application or program in addition to activating the fingerprint on the electronic devices used and not to use the direct connection feature in public places).

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al-Kuwaiti further stressed the importance of canceling the permissions of smart applications to access contacts stored in mobile phones, stored images and geographical location to constantly monitor their activities and activate the remote deletion feature on mobile devices. He also recommended avoiding modifying or disabling the default security and privacy options in devices and stressed using trusted charging stations.

"Jahiz" initiative covers all federal government employees and seeks qualifying and enabling the government team to keep pace with the requirements of a rapidly changing world. It also seeks understanding new topics and emerging fields that will have a significant impact on shaping the future of the country and creating a better tomorrow for future generations.

The platform includes 4 main sets of skills from which 20 sub-skills emerge to be completed in one year. The main sets of skills include digital skills, X 10 skills to enhance productivity and accelerate achievement in addition to data and artificial intelligence skills and new economy skills.

The platform further includes a digital portfolio for each government employee, which represents a comprehensive personal profile, which connects the employee’s achievement in acquiring the skills of job performances. The platform participants will receive the achievement badges upon fulfilling the requirements of future skills.
