Tuesday January 10, 2023

An expanded meeting was held by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, in the presence of eighty (80) Assistant Undersecretaries and Executive Directors in Support Services Sectors and Strategy and Future Directors in federal government entities, during which “Jahiz” initiative for the future government talents was introduced, as approved last November by the Council of Ministers, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai "may Allah protect him". Entities’ performance during the first phases of the project, which focused on empowering UAE government employees with future skills in the fields of cybersecurity and digital transformation, has been reviewed.

“Jahiz” initiative team also reviewed the directions of the UAE government leadership, focusing on investing in human capital, and discussed with the participants in the meeting the directions of the initiative, which represent a basic transformational project implemented at the level of the federal government, as well as its key features and the outputs it seeks to achieve, on top of which is the development of entities’ performance in enhancing human resources and government talents’ enablers.

The meeting dealt with the updates pertaining to “Jahiz” implementation through its adoption within the evaluating criteria of Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award in terms of future readiness criterion, as well as its adoption in the Human Resources Enablers System in the federal government and the Job Performance Evaluation System, in addition to putting the initiative implementation’s outputs in a report dealing with the percentages of government entity’s employees’ attainment of future skills badges, to be submitted to the Council of Ministers periodically.

The meeting discussed the themes of the Council of Ministers’ resolution approving the project and its scope and mechanism of application to government entities, in addition to dealing with the importance of the project in developing the readiness of the government and its cadres to achieve the objectives of “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision.

“Jahiz” aims to enhance the readiness of national cadres and talents in the federal government for the future and to empower them with new skills as required to design the future and benefit from its opportunities. This is through an integrated digital platform for future skills that supports the government’s readiness for the future and raises the participation of its cadres in implementing the leadership visions by establishing a global-level pioneering future government model, enhancing the UAE performance, productivity, efficiency and future readiness.

Laila Al-Suwaidi: "Jahiz" is a qualitative national initiative to empower government human resources

Her Excellency Laila Obaid Al Suwaidi, Acting Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, confirmed that the “Jahiz … Future of Government Talents" initiative is one of the leading national initiatives in developing and empowering government human resources, enhancing their capabilities, qualifying them to keep pace with the rapid global changes, anticipating future opportunities and contributing in planning and creating a better future for the state.

Laila Al-Suwaidi pointed out that “Jahiz” initiative has achieved a huge participation within the framework of the cybersecurity skills model that was introduced upon launching the initiative, which resulted in awarding the Cybersecurity Skill Badge to about 7000 participants from federal government employees.

Al-Suwaidi also stated the “Jahiz” initiative embodies the aspirations and directives of the wise leadership with regard to enhancing the efficiency of human capital in the federal government, developing its capabilities and refining its talents, pointing out that the “Jahiz” contributes significantly to enhancing the employees’ readiness for the future in ministries and federal entities, by focusing on providing them with advanced qualitative skills in many vital and strategic areas.

According to Al-Suwaidi, “Jahiz” initiative is added to a series of strategic initiatives launched by the UAE government in recent years with a view to enhance the state’s competitiveness and the efficiency of its government institutions, stressing that “Jahiz” contributes to increasing attraction to the federal government's work environment.

Four (4) Groups of Future Skill

It is worth noting that the "Jahiz" digital platform provides all federal government employees with four (4) groups of future skills, which include 20 skills for the future, to be completed within one year. The main skills group includes: Digital Skills, X10 Skills to boost productivity and accelerate accomplishment, in addition to Data and Artificial Intelligence skills, and New Economy skills.

The platform includes a digital portfolio of future skills for each government employee, which represents a comprehensive profile that links employee's achievement in acquiring skills with job performance. Participants in the platform receive achievement badges upon completing the future skills’ requirements.

The platform includes 15 strategic partners from elite government entities and international corporations, who provide specialized, practical and flexible content through “Jahiz” smart platform, enabling employees to acquire key future skills through two tracks dedicated to building future skills. The first track focuses on the leadership level in government entities and the second track builds government employees’ future skills at other levels.
