The Federal Authority for Government HR recently held in Dubai the first meeting of HR Club during 2015 entitled " UAE Space Agency - Future Gate", under the patronage of His Excellency Hussein Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government HR and at the presence of H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awur, General Director of the Authority and Tens of employees and members of the club
The club hosted Dr. Mohamed Nasser Al Ahbabi General Director of the UAE Space Agency which made a presentation that the shed light on the national space sector in the UAE in general and on UAE Space Agency in particular.
$ 310 billion is the bulk of the global investment in space field
Dr. Al Ahbabi explained in his presentation that the world is witnessing a flaring international race and competed to invading the space depending on partnerships between institutions and global leading companies in such field which is characterized by opportunities, challenges, risks and high costs noting that the global bulk of investment in the space sector overcame the barrier of $ 310 billion, with annual growth rate nearly 7% hit.
And reviewed the draft of historical project of the United Arab Emirates in space represented in establishing the UAE Space Agency and starting the work on the project to send the first Arab and Islamic probe led by an Emirati team to Mars by the year 2021 to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the United Arab Emirates establishment, stressing that this project is the first of its kind in the region and reflects the trends and aspirations of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates, led by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may Allah protect him", and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President , Prime Minister and Ruler Dubai May Allah guard him", which seeks the first positions and global pioneer in various areas and fields.
The General Director of the UAE Space Agency revealed that the current size of UAE investments in the space sector reached nearly 20 billion dirhams, explaining that the State will have more than 10 satellites in the coming period stressing at the same time on the importance of satellite investments to access to the sustainable knowledge economy.
He praised the achievements of the UAE and its prominent role in the field of space, noting that the UAE space sector is characterized by diversity, vitality and flexibility and that the UAE Space Agency is the first Arabic Space Agency in the region and it will greatly contribute in the development of the State's efforts in this vital sector and to promote its status and contributions in this area at the regional and international levels.
Dr. Al Ahbabi highlighted in his presentation on the most UAE's prominent institutions working in the field of space such as: Thuraya Telecommunications Company, Yahsat, Aaast, Aabar Investments.
He talked about the main objectives of the UAE Space Agency including: (regulation and development of national space sector with international standards serving the interests of the State and contributing to the diversification of the national economy , supporting sustainable development, supporting the efforts of scientific research , innovation and space exploration in a manner that support the scientific progress of the State and aptly putting it on the global satellite map, as well as to developing ,attracting and rehabilitation of the national cadres to become pioneers in the field of the different science and techniques of the space).
He stated that the most prominent initiatives and projects UAE Space Agency for the years 2015 and 2016 are in the (supporting and taking care of the project of Mars probe and the preparation of an evaluation study of the national space sector, and the preparation of the strategic plan for the advancement of the space sector in the UAE, holding a group of local and international partnerships and raising the awareness of the importance of the space sector).
Dr. Ahbabi focused in his presentation on the Mars probe project which will be launched in 2020 and run in 2021 indicating that the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology will implement the project in collaboration with the UAE Space Agency in coordination with other sectors and institutions.
Dr. Mohamed Nasser Mubarak Ahbabi is considered as a qualified national cadre in the field of leadership and management and strategic planning. He has long experience in the field of government technical work , initiatives and programs with the strategic dimension especially in the field of space, communications , information systems, techniques and modern defensive concepts.
Dr. Ahbabi holds A doctoral degree in communications from the British University of "South Hampton" since 2005 a Master Degree in optical telecom from the same university in 2001, and the degree of Electronic Engineering from the American University of "California" in 1998, in addition to several specialized degrees in both civilian and military fields and the obtained decorations and honoring awards.

The club aims to creating an intellectual and cognitive communication base between the officials and specialists in HR and public administration in the United Arab Emirates, exchanging views and discussing the challenges and solutions to the issues of public administration and institutional services at various work sites. In addition to the transfer of experiences and expertise between managers , specialists, experts, researchers and those interested in the development of government work and human capital development, reviewing and transferring of best practices locally, regionally and internationally, and providing a distinctive and successful innovative solutions.
The club provides to its affiliates whose number exceeded the barrier of 10 thousand affiliates an ideal opportunity to learn about best practices , seeing the success of many individuals and institutions stories and networking with professionals and the concerned all within its competence.
