Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar: "Maarif" Forum promotes a culture of volunteerism

HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR), hailed the annual Ma’aref Forum for Training & Development 2017, organized by FAHR at Dubai Knowledge Village, with the participation of hundreds of specialists in training, assessment, learning and human resources, as it really embodies a culture of specialized volunteerism. The outcome of the event was nearly 30 specialized seminars and training programs for free, presented by a number of training centers registered under Ma’aref initiative as the Federal Government’s preferred training partners for the benefit of hundreds of employees at the ministries and federal entities.

HE noted that the large participation of training providers in Ma’aref initiative reflects a strong sense of corporate social responsibility among these training partners. He thanked them for their efforts and their contribution to the success of the event, expressing the Authority’s appreciation to Dubai Knowledge Village for hosting the event.

“Ma’aref Forum for Training and Development 2017, which concluded on Wednesday, is considered a great contribution towards achieving the UAE Vision 2021, and significantly supports the implementation of the Human Resources Strategy in the Federal Government”, he noted.

According to HE, the Forum provides significant insight into human capital development and empowerment, provision of quality training to all employees of ministries and federal bodies in accordance with best global practices, as well as meeting the Federal Government's needs for specialized training, in line with the requirements of Training & Development System for Federal Government employees.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Awar concluded his speech by saying: “This Forum comes as part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts and commitment to promoting principles of social responsibility and keeping with its pioneering initiatives in the field of volunteerism. These initiatives include: launch of Guide to Volunteering in the Work Environment, for federal entities, and implementation of about 40 community-based initiatives from the beginning of 2017 until the end of October as part of the Authority’s activities to mark the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative, involving thousands of Federal Government employees”.

Laila Al Suwaidi: The Forum is an ideal platform to showcase the latest human resources training and development solutions

HE Laila Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Programs & Human Resources Planning, said: "Ma’aref Forum provides an ideal platform to review the most important outcomes of the Federal Government’s Preferred Training Providers Initiative ‘’Ma’aref’’, which aims to offer highly specialized training programs free of charge to upgrade the competencies of Federal Government employees, toward the achievement of the National Agenda leading to UAE Vision 2021. The event provides an integrated platform to showcase the most advanced HR training and development solutions.

“The exhibition accompanying  Ma’aref Forum, provides an opportunity for ministries, federal authorities and stakeholders to learn about innovative training solutions, the latest technology in this field and a link with the best training and evaluation providers in the UAE to learn about their services and training programs which contribute to human capital development and empowerment”.

Al-Suwaidi pointed out that in conjunction with the forum, a series of seminars, programs and specialized training courses were held for the employees of the ministries and the federal entities in more than one area, and covering Abu Dhabi and Dubai emirates. Participants will be awarded specialized certificates in their respective areas.

Regarding specialized training courses conducted by qualified experts in their fields, she said that many important topics were covered including:  happiness in the work environment, keys to productivity, HR finance, HR metrics, task management and project planning, digital security, workplace harmony, standards for the development of careers and career paths, psychological analysis, marketing capacity building, and preparation of job description cards.

The following training programs and courses were offered during "Ma’aref" Week are: Achieving excellence through innovation, modern trends in training and development, training in brainstorming, corporate social responsibility, shaping the future, excellence and focusing on strengths.

Ma’aref Initiative aims to:

Establish a partnership based on social responsibility and serving the mutual interests the government and private sectors. Guarantee providing high quality training for around 84,000 employees working in 56 ministry and federal entity. Meet the training needs in accordance with the training and development system of the Federal Government employees. Achieve a financial surplus from the training budgets of federal entities, and serve the maximum number of employees. Enhance the competence and productivity of the Federal Government, and create a favorable business environment therein. Assist federal entities to select training courses online, in accordance with predefined time frames.
