Al-Qatami: “Government Training Week, an integrated training system”

His Excellence Humaid Mohamed Al-Qatami; Minister of Education and chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources emphasized the importance of training in light of fast-tracking technological advancements in the world of today; the information era, which asks for breath taking efforts on the part of federal government employees to keep up with, through training and capacity building programs making use of the best international practices, expertise and experiments. He called upon federal government employees to take advantage of any training and academic opportunity that will help develop their capabilities and knowledge and will eventually turn out to be beneficial to them and their institutions.

The emphasis of His excellence Al-Qatami came during his inspection visit, accompanied by Dr. Abdulrahaman Al Awar, director-general of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources together with a number of FAHR leading officials, to Mohamed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center at Dubai Healthcare City, to check on how the activities of the first Government Training Week, which was organized by the Authority, were carried out and recently concluded successfully.

His excellence explained that the First Government Training Week is to be taken as an integrated system and one of the most significant outcomes of the “Ma’arif Initiative for the federal government preferred training partners. It offers free specialized training programs and courses that support the improvement of skills and competencies of federal government employees and help in providing federal ministries and entities with qualified human capital capable of shouldering their responsibilities to the satisfaction of standard criteria.

He pointed out that since its inception, the Authority has striven  to become a pioneering international organization through empowering human resources within the federal government and developing its employees in every possible manner driven by the strong faith in their role in achieving the aspirations and instructions of the wise leadership of the UAE, commanded by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al- Nahyan ; President of the state “ May Allah protect Him” and His brother, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al- Maktoum; Vice President , Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai “May Allah protect Him” , which are embodied in the Emirates Vision 2021and its national agenda for the coming seven years and for the strategy for human resources within the federal government. 

His Excellence Humaid Al-Qatami extended his gratitude to all federal ministries and entities which have positively responded to the call for making use of the First Government Training Week. He also thanked the training services providers, accredited within the framework of “Ma’arif initiative” who offered free of charge various training programs as part of the First Government Training Week program. More than 120 federal employees have benefited from these free programs over the span of the week. He specifically thanked Learn Active Center; Educators Consultants; the Innovation Point and Al-Waha Institute.

On his part, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar; director-general of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources stressed that the First Government Training Week was organized as part of the Authority’s plans to support and develop federal government employees and enable human resources departments within federal government ministries and entities to implement their training programs by making the most of a variety of specialized high quality training programs at competitive prices offered by the best world standards training centers.              

  He indicated that the training week has offered two types of training. The first of these types included general training programs that cover various fields of which customer service and performance systems are of prime importance. The second type of training involved specialized training which provide so many training programs in specialized fields such as accounting, legal affairs, creative thinking, motivation and professional development and application of the seven-star standard service at government customer services centers . 

HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar mentioned that the Authority has organized, during the last few days, the Ma’arif Initiative Exhibition for the federal government preferred training services providers, which is one of its strategic initiatives and the first of its kind at the level of the UAE. Its idea is based on establishing genuine partnership between the private and public sectors whereby a list of the best training services providers in the country was compiled in accordance with clearly defined criteria and this list is made available to federal ministries and entities to make use of their services and specialized training programs.   

HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, director general of FAHR has affirmed that the “Ma’arif Initiative” exhibition was a very opportune event for meeting with more than 60 training services partners of the best world standards training services providers already recognized by FAHR, in addition to introducing state-of-the-art technologies and fields of general and specialized training. He also indicated that FAHR plans to increase the number of accredited training entities from 60 to 100 in the recent future.

“Ma’arif Initiative has been launched to ensure the provision of quality training for approximately 84,000 employees working for 56 federal ministries and entities, and to meet training needs in a manner that satisfies the requirements of the training and development system for federal government employees. It also aims at achieving cost effective budgeting of training programs within federal governmental entities which entails ensuring the engagement of the maximum possible number of employees in such programs, that is in addition to enhancement of efficiency and productivity and the creation of an attractive work environment in the federal government, as well as providing convenient facilitation for federal entities to select the most appropriate training courses directly online within prescribed time frameworks.
