The UAE Government Leaders Program, under the management of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has recently concluded the second training program on “Change Management” for “Future Leaders” category.
The three-day program was held in Monarch Dubai Hotel and focused on change management in institutions and work teams, in collaboration with specialized trainers from Ashridge Business School, UK, and was attended by 35 leaders.
Mrs. Aisha Al Suwaidi, the program coordinator, Acting Executive Director of human resources policies in the Federal Government Human Resources, confirmed that the UAE Government Leaders Program constantly seeks to enhance scientific understanding and approach to aid the future leaders in initiating change and adapting to new developments.
“Part of the training focuses on using a psychometric testing method to identify leadership styles among the participants, as it is considered an important factor in creating change leadership, and an optimum approach to realizing this end”, Al Suwaidi said. She added that the participants reacted effectively to the program activities.
She stated that the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has a range of activities pertaining to UAE Government Leaders Program underway, to be launched during the next three months. The activities, she said, will transfer the best practices through a forum that will bring together a group of graduates and leaders under one umbrella, in order to maintain a constant communication between them, and in an effort to reflect the commitment of the Authority to developing the members of the program, which is undergoing significant progress in terms of structure, content, and quality of activities offered.
Al Suwaidi showed that the program aims to build and develop Government leaders at various levels of leadership, so that they can effectively influence and contribute to a strategic institutional change, in line with the objectives of the UAE Government’s strategy, and to ensure a constant flow of Government leaders at all levels.

The UAE Government Leaders Program was launched in February 2008, under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as a first integrated initiative of its kind aimed at developing visionary leaders with the potential to drive the strategic objectives of the UAE Federal Government across all Federal entities and authorities.
The Program is being implemented in collaboration with prestigious international universities and centers specialized in leadership development, and according to the best international practices and standards in this area. The members join the Program after being nominated by the authorities for which they work, and passing the assessment phase conducted by specialized assessment centers.
The program comprises three sub-programs, namely, Strategic Leaders Program: targets Director Generals and Chief Executives, and lasts for 12 months; Executive Leaders Program: targets Deputy Director Generals, Executive Directors and Department Directors, and lasts for 18 months; Future Leaders Program: targets Deputy Directors and lower positions, and continues for 18 months.
The Program’s affiliation was transferred from the Prime Minister's Office in the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources at the beginning of July 2011, as per the Cabinet Resolution No. (143/9/8) for the year 2011.
